People living with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) are asking their Federal MPs and Senators to attend the Parliamentary Friends of ME/CFS meeting on 10 March 2026 at Australian Parliament House.
We are asking members of the ME/CFS community to send emails to their MPs and senators, encouraging them to attend this meeting. To do this, simply insert your residential address and follow the prompts.
ME/CFS is a serious and disabling condition affecting around 1,500 people in every lower house electorate, yet it remains poorly understood and under-resourced.

ME/CFS is a serious and disabling condition affecting around 1,500 people in every lower house electorate, yet it remains poorly understood and under-resourced.
What we’re asking your parliamentarian to do:
  • Attend the Parliamentary Friends of ME/CFS meeting (or send a staff representative).
  • Hear directly from people with lived experience, clinicians and researchers.
  • Show leadership on improving research, care and policy responses.
Attendance sends a clear message that your parliamentarians see and hear you, and want to improve the lives of people affected by ME/CFS.

I hope you will be able to join the Parliamentary Friends of ME/CFS on 10 March. Like hundreds of others, I will attend virtually and hope to see you in the room.

Kind regards,
[Your name]

Full address[JM7]

Insert  [RL1]Pete’s calculation here!

[JM2]219K /150 electorates. Based on AIHW prevalence.

[JM3]Not sure if this version of previous para is simpler ? Remember that this email is from patients so doesn't need to sound super professional /formal

[RL4]Also include details of live link? Would really prefer they come in person

[JM5]Can't see much point in providing livestream link. They will be at APH anyway.

[RL6]Reference to name of the event (name TBC)

[JM7]The constituent doesn't need to include electorate but definitely needs to write full address - otherwise email won't get past first gatekeeper.
